How to Get There
The Airport of North Sumatra is in Medan. There are several flights in a day serve the routes to Medan
from SINGAPORE, KUALA LUMPUR (MALAYSIA), JAKARTA & BALI.
The diversity of arts and cultures literally make North Sumatra a Garden of Eden for social
scientists and culture seekers. It is a treasure chest of culture and tradition waiting to be explored,
with ancient graves of Batak kings, unique dances and ceremonies, and beautiful arts and crafts.
North Sumatra is also one of the richest provinces in Indonesia for flora and fauna with a wealth of
birds, butterflies, buffalo, and deer. The Province proudly boats of its Orang Utan Rehabilitation
Center in the Gunung Leisure National Park which is bordered by the fast flowing Bohorok River and
some delightful countryside and of course lake Toba, legendary birthplace of the mountain-dwelling
Bataks and the largest inland lake in Southeast Asia.
The region also produces more than 30% of Indonesia’s export commodities and handles about
60% of them, making it a vital cog in the Indonesian economy. Tobacco, palm oil, tea, and rubber
are produced in large quantities, particularly around Medan in the north of the province.

DAY 01: MEDAN – BUKIT LAWANG (L)
Arrival at the new airport “Kuala Namu”, North Sumatra. Meet your guide. Moving to the village of
Bukit Lawang (about 4,5 hours), which is a gateway to the Leuser National Park, one of the few
places in the world where you can still see orangutans in their natural habitat. The road there is a
huge rubber plantation and plantation of palm trees, which is extracted from the fruit of palm oil.

DAY 02: BAHOROK EXPLORATION – BRASTAGI (B, L)
Morning trekking to see the Sumatran Orangutan. Afternoon back to the lodge and transfer to
Brastagi with stops at the crocodile farm, waterfall, and traditional villages (Drive approx 6
hours). Overnight at hotel in Brastagi.
DAY 03: BRASTAGI – PARAPAT- SAMOSIR (B, L)
Transfer to SAMOSIR ISLAND (drive approx. 6 hours). The road runs through the fruit and vegetable
plantations and pine forests with a beautiful view of the lake. After arriving in Parapat cross by
public ferry boat to Samosir Island. Overnight in Samosir.
DAY 04: SAMOSIR TOUR (B, L)
After breakfast excursion by a car on Samosir island and visiting several Batak Taba villages:
Tomok: to see the old tomb of Sidabutar Kings.
Ambarita: to see a stone chair and table the execution place of Sialagan Kings.
Simanindo: to see Batak Toba traditional dance (Tor-Tor) and museum.
Afternoon tale public ferry back to Parapat, then drive back to Medan for overnight
DAY 05: MEDAN – DEPARTURE (B)
Transfer from hotel to Medan airport for your flight to next destination.
