Encounter the world’s largest lizards, the Komodo Dragons (Varanus Komodoensis), considered the
last of their kind remaining in the world today. Its ancestors roamed the earth up to about half a
million years ago. Nowadays the dragons estimated at 5,000 – 7,000 inhabited the islands of
Komodo, Rinca and other tiny surrounding islands, and on the westernmost part of Flores Island in
Indonesia.
To reach the islands, firstly you must fly to LABUAN BAJO Airport, a fisherman town in Nusa
Tenggara (Lesser Sunda Islands) which is accessible by flights from BALI. In Labuan Bajo, we will
board on a fisherman wooden boat which has been modified to enable and suitable for carrying
tourist, equipped by Radio Navigation, Electricity, Toilet, Life jackets, and Mattress and cruising to
Komodo and Rinca Islands, the home of the Last Dragons on Earth, belong to Komodo National Park
a system designed to protect and preserve the endangered Komodo Dragon.
Along with the national park’s rangers, we will silently explore the islands on foot for the encounters
with the dragons. The dragons are large, ferocious predators that are fully capable of killing and
eating a human being and capable of running as fast as a dog! But don’t worry, the rangers are
experiences and know well how to deal with dragons which can reach a length of 3 meters (about
10 feet).
Besides the dragons, you can also experience wildlife tour on Rinca Island by trekking through the
island to observe the other wild animals such as deer, horses, birds etc, in their wildlife.
We will spend an adventurous night on the boat. In the morning or afternoon, you can snorkeling
and diving around Komodo, some of the best in the world, especially for seeing soft corals. Some of
the beaches nearby have beautiful pink sand, tinted by fragments of red coral mixed in with other
shell and coral fragments.

How to Get There
The entry point of Komodo Islands is Labuan Bajo, a fisherman town on the western tip of Flores
Island of Nusa Tenggara Islands. There is a daily flight from Bali to Labuan Bajo and return.

Tour Package 1: KOMODO DRAGON TOUR I

DAY 01: LABUAN BAJO – RINCA ISLAND – KALONG ISLAND (L,D)
Upon arrival at Labuan Bajo Airport, you will be met by our local staff and with a private car take
a short drive to the harbor to board on your boat and cruise to Rinca Island for about 1.5 hours
away. Lunch will be served on boat. Rinca is one of the small islands in the Komodo National Park,
home of various species of wild animals such as black buffalos, pigs, deer, monkeys, the Komodo
Dragon, and birds. Together with your guide and the forestry rangers, you will trekking on this island in searching for the Komodo Islands and other wildlife as well as the exotic fauna. From Rinca
Island we will then proceed boating to Kalong Island, a small island covered by the mangrove trees
surround the island and is the ideal habitat for the bats (flying foxes). In the late afternoon, you will
enjoy the spectacular view when thousands of bats flying out from the island in searching for food.
Adventurous, healthy and fresh dinner will be prepared for you before you sleep on the boat.
DAY 02: KALONG ISLAND – KOMODO ISLAND – PINK BEACH SNORKELING – LABUAN BAJO (B,L)
After breakfast, we sail to Loh Liang Station on Komodo Island, where we will do an hour trekking to
Banugulung, former feeding ground to see Komodo in wild. During our way to Banugulung, you will
see other wildlife such as wild pigs, deer and various colorful birds. Return to our boat for lunch
then a journey to famous ‘Pink Beach’ that offers a beautiful marine life of corals and colorful fish.
After spending some time here for snorkeling, we return to Labuan Bajo for Overnight at Puri Sari
Beach Hotel or similar, a standard but clean and comfortable accommodation equipped with airconditioner.
DAY 03: HOTEL – BATU CERMIN CAVE – LABUAN BAJO AIRPORT – BALI (B)
After breakfast, we leave the hotel to visit the famous Batu Cermin Cave. Batu Cermin is the Indonesian
name for Mirror Rock. Shown is the limestone Mirror Rock that gives this outcrop its name.
Depending on the time of year the sun shines into the canyon between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and is
reflected on the walls. This creates a spectacular visual effect. At the appropriate time transfer to
the airport for flight to next destination.

THE DRAGONS AND THE NATIONAL PARK
The Komodo is protected by law and although they are considered harmless, it is advisable to keep
them at the distance. Komodo Island is now a nature reserve, home to a number of rare bird
species, deer and wild pigs, which are prey to the lizards as well.
The islands of the Komodo Dragon: Rinca & Komodo Islands are part of the complex of 175 islands
(about 90% inhabitant), situated 200 nautical miles east of Bali, between the islands of Flores and
Sumbawa. Actually, there are 2 main gates entering Komodo. The first one is the Bima harbor. the
second one is the harbor of Labuan Bajo. Start the tour from Labuan Bajo will provide us less time
to sail. Its only need about 3 hours to sail from Labuan Bajo to Komodo island. Most of our guest
taking the trip to Komodo from Labuan Bajo, as it is closer to the site. Less time needed to sail on
the boat.
During your stay at Komodo island, we will do some trekking to the former feeding site of Komodo
on Banunggulung on Komodo island. There is a trekking trail of about 20 minutes from the seashore
to the site on where most peoples see the Komodo lizard on its habitat. We will also pay a
visit to the other island nearby. The Komodo island group comprises of many big and small island.
Among the big one are the Komodo island, the Rinca island, and Padar island.
In general, the vegetation at Komodo are only comprised of trees and grass. The forest is not too
thick, and the ground is covered by the grass while there are only rare trees to grow. The situation
there just like the savannah. Beside the Komodo itself, the site also the home of many other
animals including wild water buffaloes, deer, and long-tailed macaque.
The water of Komodo is a very ideal place for many kinds of sea activities. A lot of our visitors enjoy
very much the underwater side of Komodo. It’s just like the missing paradise for the underwater
world lover. It has many excellent dive spots.
In the sea, it’s vibrant color and exotic life will enchant divers and snorkelers alike as endless
schools of fish ride the waterways rushing up from deep sea vents, below them the seabed is
covered with a thick carpet of florescent corals and marine invertebrates – an underwater
photographers paradise.
The corals in Komodo National park are pristine, with Mantas, sharks, turtles, dolphins, dugong,
many pelagics, to the tiny pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, frog fish, you name it we’ve got it. The
sites vary from gentle easy coral slopes to heart pounding adrenalin rides, from the warm waters of
the Flores Sea in the north to the chillier waters down south in the Indian Ocean, the underwater
the terrain is so varied with sheer cliff walls, pinnacles, sandy flat bottoms, underwater plateaus,
slopes, caves, swim-throughs, channels, all with varying colours, sizes and types of coral both hard
and soft.
